Frequently asked questions
What is GEO (generative engine optimisation)?
GEO means making your website easy for AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude to find, understand and cite. It builds on classic SEO but adds AI-specific factors: AI crawler access, machine-readable facts (structured data), llms.txt and content written as clear answers.
How is the AI readiness score calculated?
We fetch your homepage, robots.txt, llms.txt and sitemap (at most five requests) and run 13 checks. Each check has a weight; a pass gives full points, a warning half. The total is a score from 0 to 100. The score measures technical readiness – it does not measure how often AI engines actually mention you today.
Does a high score guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend me?
No. Readiness removes the technical blockers. Being mentioned also depends on your reputation, reviews, links and content elsewhere on the web. Our planned monitoring will measure actual mentions in AI answers.
Should I block GPTBot and other AI crawlers?
It depends. Blocking search and user bots (OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot) stops AI search from citing you. Blocking training bots (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, CCBot) is a legitimate choice to protect content, but AI models may then know less about your brand.
What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed standard: a short Markdown file at the root of your site that summarises who you are and links to your most important pages, written for AI models and agents. Our tool generates a draft you can edit and upload.
Is it free?
Yes. The instant check and the generators are free with no signup. Weekly monitoring with automatic fixes is coming soon at a planned $19–49 per month.
